They want "the precious"

Anyone who's familiar with the Lord of the Rings can understand that most people in politics are after the ring of power.

I believe J. R. R. Tolkien's story was trying to tell us the danger of central power. Those who knew Tolkien said the ring stood for "the machine".  That's politics, in my book.

Typical politicians want the ring.

Never mind that the ring will only corrupt them and make them a slave to its power.
Never mind that the ring will not work for us (why so many things in America are a mess).

The two "machine" parties in America want the Ring.  One ring to control them all.

And what is the ring in real life?

Control of every state in the union from behind the black gates of Washington, DC.

So, it's not Washington, DC.  It's MORDOR!!  And someone must go and destroy the ring (give back the power to the states).
