I find it kind of ironic that the free market people are providing a book for free but none of the communists I know will not give me the book I need for free.

Quote from: Ronald Reagan
How do you tell a communist? Well, it's someone who reads Marx and Lenin.
And how do you tell an anti-Communist? It's someone who understands Marx and Lenin.

Fantastic, what a great book to have transfered over to audio format. The easier we make it for people to hear the message of free markets the sooner we will reach our ultimate goals.

I still need to check this shit out.

What are the chances I'll become an anarchist after listening?

Very likely. I was not converted by that book but many I know have been. The Market for Liberty is a masterpiece in anarchist thought.

Okay, cool. I'm already teetering on the edge anyway.

Hey Ian, if a Ron Paul meet-up group were willing to pay you to turn an out of print Ron Paul book into audio formate, and they took care of all the copyright issues, would you be willing to record another audio book? I ask because my local group is talking about how they want to get some audio books and you did such a good job reading "The Market for Liberty" so I figured if you are willing I would throw that Idea out there.

How about pointing "book.freetalklive.com" to the same page as "book.freekeene.com"?
It seems weirdly disjointed when Ian tries to plug the freekeene website out of context, and it means nothing for non-hardcore listeners (and people not in NH)

You'd have to pay me quite a bit.  It's time consuming.

Well, I finally listened to it. It was sort of preaching to the crowd for me, as I had already come to basically the same conclusions, but it was still very well-argued and gave me some new things to think about.

As a matter of personal preference I prefer Murray Rothbard's approach in For A New Liberty (audiobook at the link), but The Market For Liberty is certainly an asset to the liberty movement.

Also, I applaud Ian for his reading of it. I especially enjoyed the occasional injection of sarcasm into the parts portraying statist arguments.  8)

One of the best books I've ever read.  Thanks for doing this Ian.

If this doesn't do it for you.  Read some Rothbard (there are also audio books for some of his stuff) and I'm sure you'll be convinced.  I was.

I've read plenty of Rothbard. Not everyone that reads Rothbard agrees with his works.

The Tannehills were earlier associated with the Minutemen and then the American Nazi Party before becoming libertarian.

It's strange how the same people who enthusiastically endorse one time Nazis have a conniption about Bob Barr's past.

As the state feeds off of the limitation and destruction of legitimate government, anarchy is its essence.

To claim "economic rent" from someone Else's labor when applied to land, which is something no one can own outright, is in itself, to claim landlord status over raw nature. It is an attempt at coercive monopoly power that is at the root of statism.
