Free "State" ?

Doesn't "State" imply borders, rules & leaders?

Is using the word "State" really accurate for the FSP?

nitpicking, there are degrees of freedom...Even as a newbie, I would hazard a guess that this has been hashed and rehashed on this forum. Am I wrong?

State - a particular condition of mind or feeling, or the condition of a person or thing

Using this definition, its not such a bad thing.

I don't recall reading anything about the term.. dunno though.

It's not a big deal, but something worth chit-chat I reckon.

But there's a specific locale that the project is based from. Other states have their own projects too.. Wyoming I think?

Basically.. "Free State" is contradictory.. ain't it? I'm thinking from an anarchy angle here.

Yeah, I'm just doing my best to put some spin on it like a politician would do.

there are degrees of freedom...

I disagree with this.  There are degrees to restriction, but you're either free, or you're not.

It's not a contradiction if "free" means "relatively free" and "state" is used to mean the subdivision of the US and not to mean the government institution controlling that subdivision of the US. Neither of these are obscure meanings for the words in the english language.

You're not coming from an anarchist angle, you're coming from a linguistic pedantry angle.

The FSP has nothing to do with anarchy. They want to "take over" the state of NH, not get rid of it.

"state" also means condition.

Probably a waste to argue. I'm pretty sure it was only meant to describe a pre-existing area within which the project may work.
Since that area is already called a "state", and "New Hampshire", it was far simpler to just run with that. Not much reason to go
changing the nomenclature until much more has changed.

That's my take, anyway.

Communism isn't impossible under a free society, a free society is impossible under communism.
That is what I tried to get through Zhwazi's fat head.

Yes.  It is in fact a contradiction in terms.  Mini-statists don't see it that way, though.

I took him as coming from a "words mean something" angle.  As someone pointed out, free is free, and there are degrees of restriction.  The state is obviously an institution to limit freedom.

Communism isn't impossible under a free society, a free society is impossible under communism.
