Having listened and even called in to the 6/9 show, I agree with this completely - I just called in because I wanted to get the discussion back on political issues. (I was the guy talking about the Wright Amendment.)

Well, sorry...but since that post I have begun to like RBR.  I no longer appreciate FTL the same way, because the adherence to the original concept is minimal, and there's just not enough...wittiness in the show.  I still like FTL, and it's still my favorite show, but Red Bar is more entertaining.

I think FTL's problem is Ian living in his own little radio show bubble.  He doesnt get pop culture refrences and the few times someone calls in with a lighter topic it jumps right back to whatever story they were doing before (usually cop beatings).  Ian is great for political talk but its just impossible for him to sustain conversations on any other topic.  This is why I dig co-host only shows and really have problems getting through on nights when its just Ian and Manny.

It didn't used to be this serious.  I still like the show the way it is now, but sometimes I just need a little bit of comic relief.
