dog registration
« on: January 22, 2012, 09:50:16 PM »

I just got my "Second Notice To License Your Pet". Fulton county wants me to pay $25 plus the postage it costs to send them Kahlan's vet's records proving she got the Rabies vaccine which she got the 3 year version on 5/2/2011  which they know because it is on the front of the postcard. I am going to pay the extortion that the letter demands because I am not willing to take any chance (even a extremely small one) that my Kahlan will be taken away but want to send a message to gang Fulton county , any ideas?

My cat died in an unfortunate boating accident 10 years ago.

It's a shake down, but I haven't figured out how to protest it. I register my dogs, but that's mostly because I don't want to run the risk of trouble if they make a break and go running through the neighborhood. If my dogs do get out, Fulton Co isn't getting the call. A quick look at the collar shows our name, and the vet's office. If the collar was missing, they'd have their microchips scanned, and that's where I worry about what animal control might do if Peter & Clifford aren't official.

Good pet people are going to take care of the rabies shots, whether or not they register. Bad pet owners aren't going to take care of the shots, and those are also the people who wouldn't bother to send in the registration form. It's not a good system.

I was going to ignore it but my neighbor got a visit by Fulton Co. letting them know they could go to jail if they did not pay

Wow I guess you could tell them, your pet went missing or is dead but. Otherwise i guess its just a lesson not to register your pets, none of mine are registered.

I thought the worst they can do if your pet ends up in the pound is that they will force you to register and vaccinate your pet before they give them back

Heres how I get around it......sorta.   Works so far anyway.

I went to Pet Smart and they have these little metal tags you can get laser etched with custom print of your choice. I got the one that is pretty much the same size and shape of the tags they give you when you license your dog and just put a bunch of mumbo jumbo on it. Mine have the words "I like chickens....delicious chickens" written on it. Beaurocrats, being the lazy fucks they are, rarely check up close to see whats what. They see a tag and assume its a bona-fide license tag and they move on to the easier victim whos dog has no tags around their necks whatsoever.

Dont let your dog outside when the mail carrier comes to the house either. Thats another way to get your dog reported. Happened to my next door neighbor last year.

I do not know if they were trying to scare them or if they were bureaucrats were telling the truth my notification says "A pet license for dogs, cats, and ferrets over 4 months of age is required by Fulton County, Georgia code (Sec. 34-201). Failure to license may result in a citation to appear in court." It did not say what the max or min was.

Kahlan loves the mail carrier and the mail carrier likes Kahlan he is almost a volintarist (sp?) and would either bring her to my neighbors house or put her back in my back yard if he found her. I would be worried if she got out when he was off and it was a replacement since she is a Siberian Husky and a lot of people think she is a wolf.
