There is a whole class of fallacies that center around statistics.
'If we allow "behavor A", then "X%" more people will die!'
The answer is simple: Yes.
Yes, Freedom means being free to make your own choices and your own mistakes.
Sometimes, those mistakes result in bad outcomes. Like death, or disease, or terrible parenting.
You have a simple choice: allow people -- including yourself -- to be free,
or live with your actions determined by the popular masses and enforced at gunpoint "for your safety."
I have given up trying to convince abject socialists in the value of Freedom. They don't get it. I prefer to suggest that they practice what they preach, and truly live by these ideals. Places to try them (and I am being honest and serious here) include California, Florida, Massachusetts, Vermont, Venezuela, Mexico, Italy, and China.
