Congresswoman shot in head
« on: January 08, 2011, 03:28:21 PM »

I am sad to write that violence has been initiated against a seemingly innocent group of individuals and a congresswoman AND a Federal Judge. Aside from the initial violence that took place in Arizona, I am concerned with the law(s) that I presume will pass to "remedy" the situation.

For instance, if a scary looking weapon was used in the killings, the Federal Assault Weapons ban may be passed again.

What do you guys and gals think may come down the pipe way?

Well, I doubt force was *initiated* by the shooter against the Congresscunt. The other people, yeah he probably initiated it.

Agreed. I should have made that more clear.

You should read up more about guns, the AWB did not ban automatic weapons. They are already regulated under another Federal law.

You are correct. The law banned semi autos! Regardless of the fact that I didn't write that the law banned automatic weapons, I have changed the post so that no one else is confused by the formerly tricky wording.

the article I read managed to bring assault rifles into the issue. Apparently, the shooter used a gun. One of the congresswoman's opponents in the recent election was a tea party ier who has a picture on his website portraying him holding an AR15, which is also a gun. The article stated that any connection between the former opponent and shooter is unknown.

I'll admit. I chuckled a bit when I heard the news.

Really a thread like this should have some links to the story about the shooting.

http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/nationworld/2013885784_giffordsshot09.html

http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/cifamerica/2011/jan/09/usa-arizona
The guardian article is way leftist in their delivery about the incident.  Interesting how the writer goes off into a tangent about the increase in militias as being one of the reasons for the shooting.  With no evidence whatsoever.

Given the shooter was a liberal, the leftist media obviously has to try and blame the more conservative and libertarian groups.

Obviously we need to bomb Iran.

This situation makes the case fairly clear. Bomb Iran.

I chuckled too at the headline but was saddened when I hit the part about the 9 year old girl. Not cool.

Link where did you read or hear that the shooter was or is a liberal?  The media is really burying that information if it is true.  Did I miss it in the articles I linked?
