This is a prank video, right? does that mean he didn't really earn $36 by hugging people, or does it mean he was goofing around and actually had people pay him for hugs?
I assumed it was the second case until the fat lady at the end offered him a $20 for "something else"...

No I'm pretty sure its real. He saw the person from the free hug campaign and went out and (somehow) provided a superior product and got 2 bucks, right in front of the free ones. His hugs were valued more.
