I am not trying to be rude or mean, but I haven't heard why a lot of people in NH change their names. I know other groups do the same thing, like Muslims, so I don't think its too strange or necessarily bad.
I know I've heard something about this on FTL, but I don't remember what was said.

Its a way of spreading ones beliefs and identifying each other. Also, if someone like Ian were to move to NH and change their name from Bernard to Freeman, its a way of turning over a new leaf.

Because pseudonyms annoy paper pushers.
Personally I prefer the idea of full on secret identities to a pseudonym if you're gonna go that way but whatevs.

Ah yes, I neglected to realize the whole anti-bureaucracy point. So, have you ever met anyone with a secret identity? My username (this one) used be all secret, but in the last year or so I let the cat out of the bag in various ways. When I move to NH and enter the ________ market I'll be taking up my secret identity. Or not. :D

I have know idea, because if they did it would have been a secret yo.
But seriously tho, sure, I used to know a couple people. Not anymore though. Different crowd. Survivalist types.

I can see the "being part of a group" thing, I guess. Whatever name makes them happy is fine by me.
Maybe I'll change my name to Tommy Small-L Libertarian Anarcho-Capitalist Rothbardian. (Names start with capital letters so my "Small-L" had to be a big L.)
Seriously, though....I not trying to make fun of anyone. I do all kinds of weird shit like talk to my cats and sing in the car. So creating a community where people change their name to one a few popular liberty synonyms isn't that crazy. Like I wrote earlier, I think a lot of Muslims change their name like Muhammad Ali did (his non-muslim name was Cassius Clay).
The whole name thing does have a bit of a religious or culty feel, though. But so does kool-aid and I still enjoy a cool glass of the red stuff every now and then. So I'm happy to let a thousand flowers bloom.

It's become a joiner thing to do now, like emos. I feel like if I did it (and I have no desire to), it would look like I'm trying too hard to be cool.
Also, it's just getting fucking impossible to keep up with who's who. There's someone on FB who chose a name in Hebrew letters or something. I see her in person all the time and I still have no fucking idea what her name is and kinda don't care.
Attn whore much?
Needless to say, I've never tried to tag her in a post.

You should change your name to that clicking sound people make with their tongues. I think I've heard that some Africans use the noise as part of their language. "Igga bobba boo boo ging jang *click *click *click." (That's probably how English sounds to them, too.)
