BlogAd for FTL on bluehampshire.com
« on: February 04, 2008, 06:11:54 PM »

bluehampshire.com is the web-centered heart of liberalism in New Hampshire.
Well, I just took out a blog ad for FreeTalkLive.com on bluehampshire.com

Just because. Dammit.

Awesome idea!!!!!!!

After all, most people I've ever me who called themselves "liberal" used the term to mean that they love personal liberty and free thinking.

your liberal friends are nothing like my liberal friends. . . they talk about freedom but then they talk about giving a house to every person in America, and having the government control pay that way they don't have to collect taxes at all, they can just subtract them out of the checks they write us.

yeah.

The ad isn't showing up yet. Maybe someone at the target website has to approve it? Anyway, I won't be concerned until tomorrow.

Later I may also take out a blogad on one of the conservative NH blog sites aswell (eg, granitegrok.com) and general-audience blogs (nhinsider.com)

I really want to get copies of FTL CDs out to NH college students. A few Free-Staters have said they'll help pass 'em out, but they haven't taken the lead or anything either. Slackers!

That's usually what I see too. My point, though, is that if you start talking to them about liberty (which they think they love) and start working on particular liberties that they will agree with, then you can start showing them that personal liberty is not possible without economic liberty.

Start with the places where we agree, then increase exposure.

By the way, does anybody know of a well-written article or paper approaching the war on drugs from the anti-war standpoint? Since most drug-related violence is caused by the drug war itself, I think this might be particularly persuasive. This is one reason I think that Ron Paul has such wide appeal.

that's pretty much my lifeline to them LA . . . the drug war is something that we both can agree on wholeheartedly.  They talk very libertarian when it comes to that. . . they're for decriminalization because "they don't want the government to tax it"

so the first few times I had to argue with them, asking why it is ok for all money to be owned by the government but they shouldn't tax pot.  Devil's advocate of course.  I'm happy to say that I've changed their mind in that regard into "legalization with no government taxes or stipulations"

besides that, it's really hard to get them to understand what true libertarianism is.  . . because they feel that their definition is correct.  Fortunately the more I discuss and debate with them the quicker and quicker the conversation ends.  A tough sell frankly is the non-initiation of force. . . some people just think it's okay to take things from others without a cause.

OK, here's what the FAQ says:

http://web.blogads.com/FAQ/advertisers/formatting/when-will-ad-appear

Bloggers get to approve ads after payment has cleared. In most cases, bloggers approve ads very quickly. After three days, however, the system auto approves all ads that have not been rejected by the bloggers. Normally ads will go up around 2am. If that is too late and your ad hasn't appeared after 24 hours following submission, please drop us a note via http://web.blogads.com/ba_contact_us.

Done.

Thanks, Denis.  I also heard there was a coordinated campaign going on in Manchester to contact WGIR... not sure how that went.

Mark W. (aka "taxinator") did that totally on his own. He printed up flyers with phone number & name of the PM and a sample script and passed it out at the MVP meeting!! He's also testifying at the State House (you can see him on some Ridleyos and BikerBill vids), passing out Gold Standards, AND helping organize PorcFest... it's like somebody dropped a Liberty Bomb!! Yeah, Mark W.!!!

Back on topic, I got an email from the blogad people. There was a problem on their end. They say the ad should run on bluehampshire.com in the next 2 days. I am psyched :)

Yep. I can see "impressions" and click-thrus. I'll post the numbers in 2 weeks when the ad runs out.
Unlike Google Ads, blogads.com is flat-rate, not pay-per-click.

Update... only 1 day remaining on my ad run, here are the stats:
    Cost for 2 week small-size ad: $40
    Impressions: 20899
    Clicks: 5
My guess is none or at most 1-2 of the clicks was from actual bluehampshire visitors.
We did get "seen" a lot, though, so that may count for something.

I've just now put together a similar ad tailored for "REAL Conservatives" on GraniteGrok.com:
   YES: Guns, Capitalism
   NO: Educrats, Income Tax
   Conservative enough?
   Call-in 7-10PM: 1-800-259-9231

GraniteGrok cost only $15.00/2 weeks, presumably it has less traffic.
I'll post the numbers in ~2 weeks.
