I just got Winchester '73 and watched it with my wife the other day. It was pretty good. Now, I'm going to have to find the rest of the "Mann-Stewart" movies.

I've heard that's a good film, and it's on my Netflix list.
I'd say last year's "True Grit" was a mighty fine Western.

Just finished The Man from Laramie. It's pretty good.

many good mentions here:
a few films to add to the discussion:
Open Range
Shane (first western film for me)
3:16 to Yuma

Yeah, Open Range was better than I expected, specially since I dont really like K. Costner all that much. Best part of that one was when he threw caution to the wind and blasted that bad guy in the skull who had his gf just inches from him. That took balls.

I enjoyed the more realistic take on gunfights and the chocolate break in the middle.

Robert Duvall put the realism into that movie. Its been a long time. I think im gonna watch that one again.
