i used to love >battle of the bulge<..
magnificent cast, except i got to a point where i couldn't stand the fact that the moviemakers did a horrible job w/ the tanks.
they used obvious U.S. M46 or 47 ''patton' tanks, for the germans' panzer/tiger divisions (painted grey) & walker bulldog M41's, for the American M4 shermans.
unforgiveable.

band of brothers & private ryan are superb in their historical accuracies re: vehicles
even though ''band'' was a miniseries, it is also quite factual, w/ respect to characters & story line (maj. dick winter's escapades through ww2 europe), where the priv. ryan story is a hollywood embellishment.

Just finished watching "Valkyrie".

Surprisingly strong performance by Tom Cruz, Excellent costumes/sets/hairstyling.

Highly recommended.

I'm surprised no one's mentioned Full Metal Jacket yet.

(and if you liked it, you should read The Short-Timers, the book it was based on. Really, really good, and the author has released the entire text for free online.)
