Advocating libertarianism via media bs FTL
« on: December 19, 2005, 02:18:51 AM »

Sorry if this has been addressed...

As a person coming in from the left, "progressive," aspect, it seems to me, many of those "progressives" are a viable harvest for the libertarian community.

When presented with the "No Instantiation of Violence" principle, alone, I belive many of these people would at least consider the proposition. (I'll admit, many wouldn't go straight over, and many would get lost in endless argument, looking for proof before acting.)

However, the "left" is very fractured and many aren't in love with socialism; it's just the first idea they've heard which actually could benefit them. Many of them are freedom-loving gun nuts :), and would love to live freely, though the principles are alien.

The point of this post is that there are shows which run on wide networks, such as the pacifica radio network, which reach entirely different audiences, and that the hosts of these various shows could be enlightened, and spread the word of liberty.

Just ask them:

"Are you willing to allow people to do things you disapprove of if those things do not involve the use of force or
fraud on people?"

If they answer anything else but yes, they are assholes.

Just tell them about FTL, and make sure they listen to it for a couple of days.  I was a "lefty", but FTL changed my life.  FTL saved my life.  It's like FTL was a diet pill to me.  It changed my whole existence.  No really.

Good news for the progressive world.  FTL's first progressive affiliate will be coming on Jan 7th in Sacramento, CA!

We're going to celebrate, and introduce them to Liberty by having David Bergland, the former Libertarian Presidental candidate on the show to talk about his book, "Libertarianism in one Lesson".

This is really exciting for us, because now we'll get to tout that we're on both "conservative" AND "progressive" stations!   8)

What is delayed, the author or radio station?

Just have them click on this link. It instantly converts bleeding-heart liberals into Libertarians willing to move to the Free State!

Station.

That's too bad.  I think Harry Browne would have been a great introduction for them.

David Bergland is in no way Harry Browne.

Oh, crap!  Why did I think FTL was having Harry Browne on the show Saturday?  Sorry, a bit distracted.  Hebrew final, 25-page research paper, blah blah blah.
