None of that stuff sounds all that fun to me (except the getting laid part...but I get that as often as I like since I'm married)  Since you seem so concerned with my quality of life, I assure you that I have several hobbies that I enjoy regularly.

I think that you may have gotten the wrong impression about FDR based on your belief that Stefan believes:

Hate your entire family or you're a bad, misled person.

Which is not what it is about at all.

Is there something wrong with loving people for their virtues. rather than accidents of birth?  Personally, unconditionally loving your parents feels a little like nationalism or jingoism.  Y'know, "my family, right or wrong"?

What do you mean by "tolerance"?

If you mean, "allow someone to believe what they like without threatening them with violence" then I already show tolerance.

If you mean, "value people who believe that violence should be done to you the same as people who don't" then you clearly don't value yourself very much.  I don't "love everyone equally".  I love people who deserve to be loved.  In my view, you don't deserve to be loved if you think violence should be done to me.  I guess I'm just weird that way though, but when people think I should be in prison, it makes me not as eager to spend time with that person.

As far as acceptance, I have that.  I have accepted that she believes as she does, and have thus moved on with my life.

The day I hear someone say exactly those words, I'll agree with you. Maybe it's just me, but no-one ever has.

But you don't understand. Nobody ever actually SAYS that. But if they don't bark about liberty to strangers from their porches, if they haven't de-FOOed, if they use the word "Jesus" in any sense that isn't a curse word... they're THINKING it.

So for example, a gay person shouldn't decide to not be friends with someone just because that person thinks that gays are an abomination against God?

A black person, I suppose, shouldn't decide not to be friends with someone who thinks that slavery should be re-instituted against black people.  That too is nothing more than a difference of opinion.

Of course, if my mom thinks that my views are abominable, then she is more than justified in dissociating from me too.
