http://freekeene.com/2009/01/25/introducing-the-liberty-radio-network/

Now you can listen to the best liberty-oriented shows on the internet all in one handy live stream! Introducing The Liberty Radio Network (http://libertyradionetwork.com) - 24/7 streaming of the most recent episodes of great programming like Gardner Goldsmith’s Liberty Conspiracy, The Lew Rockwell Show, Freedomain Radio, Antiwar Radio, Complete Liberty, Free Minds Radio, Bureaucrash’s Podcrash, and of course, Free Talk Live. Plus, you’ll also hear live programs originating from our studio in Keene, New Hampshire when they happen! Listen in 64k broadband or 8k dialup at LibertyRadioNetwork.com (http://libertyradionetwork.com)

The Liberty Radio Network is available to you free of charge if you'd like to use it as programming for your pirate/community/part 15 radio station. For now, you should use our broadband stream to feed your transmitter. Eventually, we plan on adding a Ku-Band Free-to-Air satellite feed so you won't need to rely on the public internet for audio delivery. If you'd like to help us achieve this goal sooner rather than later, please become a Free Talk Live AMPlifier (http://amp.freetalklive.com). If you're using LRN for your station, please email ian at freetalklive.com and let us know so we can list you on our website.

If you get one of those cheap Chinese transmitters on ebay with standard consumer inputs like a 1/8" stereo or RCA, try this little guy out instead of using a computer to receive the stream:

http://bswusa.com/proditem.asp?item=EXSTREAMER100

I'd love to hear how well this works...

The stream has been very reliable and the programming is getting better and better.
There is an LRN promo that has an ooops in it. That guy with the throat problem says, at the end, .......radio dot com  and then after a pause he says   ..dot com, again. I don't recall what the other content of the promo is.

I just went through all the liners and couldn't find it.  Let me know when it next occurs - time and date, if possible.

Finally heard it again! During live FTL. Out of spots it says You're listening to the live edition of Free Talk Live  on the Liberty Radio Network, blah blah Genisis, blah visit us online at freetalklive.com  ..........dot com.
I've noticed other spots getting cut off early, so it may be an automation bug.

The LRN will, in the near future, be on the air in a neighborhood near you.

Or rather, near me. The one in which I live, in fact.

Yeah, those rejoins are a little rough, because I'm overriding GCN's liner.  I'm going to extend the length of the rejoin liners a bit.

That's exciting!  Care to post a thread about your station and what hardware you're using, etc?

another player to look at
has audio and headphone out

Sanyo has taken their basic stereo clock radio design and created something that does much more. The R227 can also play Internet radio stations and podcasts with no subscription fee involved. The device connects via WiFi or ethernet connector and has great stereo sound quality. Also receives standard FM broadcasts.

It also features a lighted LED display, snooze buttons and sleep to radio functions and access to shared music files (MP3 etc.) on the same network. Each of two alarms can be programmed to sound daily, on weekdays or weekends only, or once a week on a specific day. The radio additionally has a sleep timer that can be set for lengths of time ranging between 15 and 90 minutes.

Preloaded with a worldwide database of over 14,000 genre-sorted internet channels, it can search by country or genre and users can add new stations. With 8 presets and a black lacquer-finished cabinet

avg price $150

This is probably better for a dedicated station audio feed:

I have one and am going to test it out soon.  I'll let you know how it goes.

You think that's bad, I have to COMPLETELY BUMP Fox News at the top of the hour when relaying ANYTHING from LRN (I've been relaying FTL for about a week now - Feel free to kill me if you want guys!) because my Internet Radio is on Live365 & retransmitting Fox News on there would be umm.....A violation of Live365's TOS.  Otherwise, no real big deal (Yeah right - Afterall, what's the worst thing that can happen beyond losing my account with them?)

And even if I did have a Part 15 TXer, I would still bump Fox News because I'm one who happens to believe that Fox News = Fixed News - UNFAIR & UNBALANCED.  Not only that, but here in Denver, we have a 50,000 watt blowtorch (Chump Channel-owned KOA Radio) who is the official Fox News affiliate.  Kinda hard to buck those guys & expect to have a chance of keeping an audience afterward.

What do I replace Fox News with you ask? Headlines from Free Speech Radio News (http://www.fsrn.org/) who can only be found on a handful of Pacifica Radio affiliates.  I like my chances by going this route :D

Cheers :D

Putting Fox on was a last-ditch choice, as I could find no other 5 minute news segment delivered via podcast from the major radio news players.  The liberty-friendly Free Market News Network is out of business.  I didn't think of FSRN.  Listening to it now.

Likes: More news, no spots.
Dislikes: Once a day updates, no consistent timing - hard to program for a clock as I'd have to chop it after five minutes, which will sound awful.  Appears to take weekends off.

Ideally, there should be a liberty-oriented newscast someday.  I've encouraged Sam to do OTN News if even once a week, but he is too busy.

I don't really think either are ideal, but they are both better than airing another five minutes of spots.

Anyone got any better suggestions?  Would you prefer a five minute, truncated, FSRN instead of FOX?

That cannot be that hard to set up, can it? I'll bet we can find someone to do it, perhaps weekly. Heck, I might even do it. Or maybe I'm just sleep deprived and am rambling. We'll see in the morning...

Ian,

In your opinion, what do stations want as a possible alternative to mainstream news? What do you, as a network operate want, specifically in a alternative news source.

I have experience with podcasting and with audio tools. I wish to understand the needs of potential broadcasters and your self as to what you may want to see in a 'news break'.

Well, the more often updated the better.  The big boys do it hourly, sometimes every 30 mins.

I've never done news gathering or managing/editing, so I have nothing to really input on this.

I would expect a LRN.FM news service to do everything as far as news gathering EXCEPT politics.  Lots of news services consider that shit important.

I'd listen to all the competition, see how they do it, and figure out what's missing.

Police state news - activism news.  Consumer news.  There's so much stuff we don't cover on-air that deserves some airtime...
