False.
Creating hyperlinks to images hosted in the internet is not illegal.

Copying them is if it's specifically stated on the site that they don't give you rights to do so. However, I believe that many court cases have ruled that posting an image on the internet without a copyright notice of some kind indicates that the image is generally up for grabs.

Brad Templeton, Chairman of the board of the Electronic Frontier Foundation: http://www.templetons.com/brad/linkright.html

Quote from: Brad Templeton
Many people write to ask me about whether it can be a copyright violation to link to a web page against the explicit wishes of the owner of that web page. This is not a suitable subject for the copyright myths article because this is not at all a decided subject...

Inlining
The quesiton of inlining, may, as noted, be treated differently from linking. Inlining involves writing HTML to insert an image that is fetched from another server. Thus when people view your web page, they see the image from the other site and the other site actually does the work of serving it.

Inlining is strange because in some ways the law might treat it as a lesser offence than copying the image from the other site onto your server and using it there. In that case, you would be engaged in a very straightforward copyright violation. With inlining, the original image owner's site does the work of copying the image to the user viewing it.

However, that seems backward, since the effect is the same, and to add injury to insult, not only are you seeming to use their image without permission, you're making them do the work. They're getting the bill for web service -- and images are the bulk of web traffic at most servers.

The doctrine of contributory infringement might apply more strongly here because you've now set up an automatic mechanism to cause users to copy the picture in a way not approved by the copyright holder. They don't even know it's happening, it's so automatic. It might be akin to you placing a photocopier on the street with a copyrighted photo in it, and a sign saying "press this button for a free picture." And sending the bill for the copying to the copyright holder of the picture to boot. You don't make any copies yourself, but it certainly seems to be even worse, from the copyright holder's viewpoint, than if you had done so.

Copying them is if it's specifically stated on the site that they don't give you rights to do so. However, I believe that many court cases have ruled that posting an image on the internet without a copyright notice of some kind indicates that the image is generally up for grabs.

Name one.

Does posting links to copywrited content count as posting something illegal, ie posting a link to a copywrited mp3 uploaded on divshare/yousendit/etc, or posting a link to something on Pirate Bay?

Hey, Porc and I were thinking..

When an S Head has become un-S Headed, shouldn't the posts that are not of the intended nature of this section be moved to the appropriate section?

There is simply too much off-topic material in this section now and it makes it difficult to get to the real shitty topics in here when you really need to.

Quote
If tomorrow all the things were gone I'd worked for all my life,
And I had to start again with just my children and my wife,
I'd thank my lucky stars to be living here today,
'Cause the flag still stands for freedom
and they can't take that away.

I'm proud to be an American where at least I know I'm free,
And I won't forget the men who died who gave that right to me,
And I gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today,
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land God Bless the U.S.A.
From the lakes of Minnesota to the hills of Tennessee,
Across the plains of Texas from sea to shining sea.
From Detroit down to Houston and New York to L.A.,

There's pride in every American heart
and it's time we stand and say:
I'm proud to be an American where at least I know I'm free,
And I won't forget the men who died who gave that right to me,
And I gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today,
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land God Bless the U.S.A.

I find it FUCKING Funny that you would have a rule on here that says if its Illegal then you will be banned.

When the entire god dam show is about, saying fuck you to police government and laws.

what a bunch of PUSSYS.

How is it in the interest of any radio show to get itself in legal trouble and potentially shut down, even one which is opposed to government?

Thinking: it's good for you.  It also helps you spell better and avoid random capitalizations.

Don't feed the trolls Rillion. This person, while not only stupid, is also pro-government, and probably already affiliated with law enforcement or politics in some way... Something about the phrasing makes me think this idiot has cops in his (or her) family.

So anyone who does not agree 100% must be a Troll...

Put down the cool aid jag off.

If the two guys on the show would make better arguments and take less polarizing stances they would have a greater audience.

No cops in the family but I have had to call them about 4 times.  All very nice and helped out.

My friends are not going to come running to my aid at 2AM in the morning.  Its nice to call I can make a phone call using three digits and some one will come to my door pretty quick.

Next time someone is breaking into your house resisits the urge to call the cops on priniciple for fear that they will plant evidence.

Well I am glad you have a gun...

Now how about if an ex-girl friend comes to your door at 2am in the morning then what are you going to do....

Let me take in one more level...just like the hosts on the show do...

What if it was a year old child who was harassing you at 2AM what would you do....

And by the way the childs parents allowed him to stay out late....because he had no rules.
