I love the standard red circle around the guy. Like, Oh? Where is he? Oh thanks red circle I couldnt tell!

Looks like there was something else in the water? Perhaps the intended prey of the whale. It was a killer whale anyhow, they're ruthless.

I don't know of any but I wish you the best, Gene.

Thanks.  I don't want anyone to get the idea that I'm about to keel over or anything...  It's early detection and the progression is usually slow.

I'm rooting for you Gene! Feel free to keep us updated, and say something if you need anything.

I'm downloading it now. Username Anaarchir. I cant believe my name was taken.

I'd imagine Mike is probably taken too.

I'm saying that the word "Anarchir" was taken before I got to it.

Wizardry Online is the most hardcore fantasy MMO ever created. The difficulty level is insane. The dungeons are brutal. There is no auto-healing. You will earn your levels. Your crimes taint your soul. Your allies could betray you at any moment. And when you die, you die forever.

Are you ready for the challenge?

Eesh! I'm not sure I am.

No resurrections. I'm so used to playing minecraft where no death is forever.

What is stopping some 3 letter govt goon agency from setting up fake shops on Silk Road and sending the cops to someones house instead of the product they ordered?

In theory, you could order whatever it is you want and have it delivered to an address that doesn't belong to you.  If you have a tracking number, you know when it's going to arrive and can intercept it, etc.

Problem with that, is they would know where its really going as well. Just sit and wait a few hrs for you to show up and BLAMMO, you're screwed.

7-11's started a program where you can have stuff shipped to them for a fee. Then all you would have to look out for is a police car in the parking lot.

...and the security cameras.

...and the plain clothes DEA agents

Hell it could be the station attendant himself.

Sounds great to me.
10  Free Talk Live / General / Red & Black Song, Les Miserables on: January 26, 2013, 01:09:51 AM
Just watched Les Miserables. It was a depressing, albeit well done and emotional movie. One song struck me in particular:
Les Miserables - ABC Cafe: Red and Black [LYRICS]

"Red & Black", basically a song of one small group of revolutionaries in the movie.

If we could get a "Gold & Black" version that would be amazing. Our theme song of sorts. I'll absolutely sing it.
11  Free Talk Live / The Polling Pit / Re: Best type of commercial on: January 23, 2013, 02:48:36 PM
By now most listeners should have heard the new Quantum Vibe jingle. I've been wondering how effective it is, and want to ask people here what they think about it. Is a jingle better than the type where an announcer describes the strip over background music (voice-over), or where I get Mark to read a script (read-aloud), or does it matter? Which type of commercial makes you more likely to go and read the comic?

Marks reading ads leave something to be desired, i.e. when he acts like an older person to purposely mispronounce some new technology. MARK, WE KNOW YOU KNOW HOW TO SAY "FACEBOOK".

Back on topic, that Quantum Vibe jingle is fucking amazing. I have been caught singing it hours after hearing it. Marketing value: very high for me. However, I havent gone and actually read the comic yet. I'm not much of an online comic person however right now, so a lack of click-through there is not something I'd worry about. Overall, great catchy jingle that I actually look forward to hearing. "zany creatures, made with genetically engineered features" is hilarious.

Dale is absolutely right. In the U.S. a "coin" is government money. Round is a shape, could be metallic.

Kind of like how head shops dont like the word "bong" but "water pipe" is just fine.

My only question is: Why did they use so much green screen, when they clearly filmed it ON LOCATION?
