Meter-maid, meter-man, what ever. I'll let you do what ever floats your boat though the question was serious.  Mr. Green

Let's say you desperately  needed a job to pay for rent, food, and such, and the only job available was meter-maid would you take it?  Cool
3  Free Talk Live / General / Self-replicating 3D printer is bull. on: May 10, 2013, 09:57:03 PM
Ever taken apart a standard bubble-jet printer? You will find gears, and tons of other little grooving things. Almost all of them can be "printed" but where it gets a hell of a lot more complicated is when it comes to electrics, as in motors and switches, and electronic components, as in the motherboard and printing head(s). While the motors and switches might be feasible in the near future I suspect that a motherboard full of integrated circuits, capacitors and resistors, a lot of them micro sized is well beyond reach for the moment. The only solution I can see is having the plans to print the printable parts but the motherboard and electricals and the printing head(s) would have to be part of a kit that one could order. But a completely self replicating 3D printer? For the moment I call it bull.
4  Free Talk Live / General / Bitcoins and war. on: April 28, 2013, 10:15:20 PM
Let's say that Bitcoin was THE currency around the world. Dollars, pounds, what ever don't exist anymore. At the moment a country wants to go to war? Simple, print more money. But since Bitcoins are a finite currency you can't print them of pull them out of a hat like a magic trick. Could this mean Bitcoins could actually be a huge moneraty obstacle against going to war since war means more spending, a hell of a lot more? Hope Mark and Ian have an input here.

U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel announced today that the United States has evidence chemical weapons have been used in Syria.

Hagel's remarks come a couple of days after an Israeli intelligence official said Damascus was using weapons banned under international law against its own people in the country's civil war. Syria has said rebels have used chemical weapons.

President Barack Obama has said the Syrian government's use of chemical weapons against its own people would be a "game changer."

Get complete coverage of breaking news on CNN.com, CNN TV and CNN Mobile.

So, as I was saying, it would seem that chemical weapons realy are back in vogue.
6  Free Talk Live / General / Re: Alex Jones is an asshole. on: April 19, 2013, 12:24:57 AM
And this is where I have to wonder what kind of gasses he's been breathing. Either he's a complete fool and as insane as it gets of he's playing that role so a few truths can come out. If it's the second option I say he should simply shut up for ever because he's hurting what ever cause he's supposed to be standing for. By the way, my reference to chemical weapons was because of a CNN news presentation where it was said that Syria(?) had a stock pile of those and also there were allegations of them having been used. Strangely that was never mentioned again.

Now this brings me to something that has been bothering me for some time. "Out there" there are real seriously bad conspiracies to destroy what ever privacy and freedom we (supposedly) have. One just has to think as to how WW2 started or the Vietnam war started. Add Iraq to the list. Even more important we see, usually 3 or 4 decades after information coming out proving that a certain conspiracy was true. This means the rabbit hole is real and that there is something to be found at the bottom. Still, it isn't meant to be found for decades.

So what to do with conspiracy people? Me I see them as a huge resource of people that could be made to join a freedom movement. Laughing them off has has been done on FTL only makes them stubbornly more entrenched  in their own beliefs.

Now take people in love with cops. While not all cops are bastards there are more than enough proof to show that there is a huge number of cops that are out to maim and even kill people just because they can. CopBlock is showing that being true each and every day. CopBlock is actually making a difference and is having an impact on how cops must behave. Now they know they just can't get away as easily as they used to with brutality and even murder. So why not some PoliticianBlock? I suspect that would make conspiracy people pause and think. There is something that can be seen and proven. No more wasting time with rabbit holes. No more wasting time voting for one party after having been shafted by the other. I suspect that is what a government would be terrified of. I also suspect that it would make the Free State Project a hell of a lot more worth while to look at and even join than to go on following that religion called politics.

Oh!!!! Now I remember what Jones might be referring to.  Mr. Green

Did you know that chemical weapons are now back en vogue? Wasn't that like 10 years ago that it was used as an excuse? The problem with Jones is not so much what he has to say but how he says it. He's been warning about this thing called military industrial complex and it has nothing to do with shyness. Is he insane? Nah, just never learned to express himself in a believable way and more importantly adding proof to what he says. Razz Of course my reptilian friends would disagree with me. Razz
10  Free Talk Live / General / Re: Judge oks truth serum for alleged Colarado gunman, James Holmes on: March 19, 2013, 10:56:28 PM
Oook, 51 views and no replies? I would have thought that for "liberty minded" people that it would have tickled out a reply from someone. Razz

So, if someone is accused of some "crime" should he be forced to take truth serum? My one point of view is no not only because it goes against the 5th Amendment but also because it forces someone to possibly incriminate himself against his will. After all truth serum is intended to force someone to answer a question no matter what the consequences might be for him.

IF the gunman allegedly behind the Colarado theatre shooting does not plead guilty to the massacre, he could be given truth serum to determine whether he is insane.

Isn't that the same as forcing someone to self-incrimintate themselves?

P.S. = I tried to submit this article as Show-Prep and it was denied??? Maybe I did something wrong? Confused

13  Free Talk Live / General / BDSM and freedom? on: February 20, 2013, 10:03:17 PM
While listening to the Feb 19th podcast of FTL there was talk of when one gives up his ownership of his self to a god or gods. It seems that a group refuses members that say they belong to god/gods and or hold beliefs contrary to non-aggression. Ok, no problem as such with that. But BDSM? I can't see how it could be a problem. BDSM is a form of sexual activity, not a religion. When's the last time you had someone knock at your door at 7 am and ask you to convert to BDSM? Religions ask you to relinquish your ownership. BDSM-ers freely relinquish their selves only to people their absolutely trust and only for a limited time. Here I'm excluding the extreems of BDSM I guess. So, isn't that comparing eggs with apples?

Coast to Coast AM had the following link about those dashboard cams.

15  Free Talk Live / General / Dashcams made a necessity by insurance companies! on: February 16, 2013, 02:20:13 AM
That's in Russia! It seems that in some parts of Russia the traffic is so bad that there are a lot of car accidents. So much so that the insurance companies have made it impossible to get paid for damages unless you can prove you aren't at fault. So the answer is the dashcam! If any of you have seen all those videos of the meteorite that hit in Russia and wondered how come there were so many of them, that's why. Everyone has a dashcam in their car! Awesome.
