The Show / How to CCWiFi FTL
« on: August 10, 2012, 08:02:04 PM »
So I got the CCwifi radio yesterday.

I can find LRN.FM by looking up "LRN.FM" but I can not figure out how to get to the FTL feed.

Is there a way to get to the FTL feed with this radio?

I got a usb wifi antena 3 and the CCWiFi radio.  They gave me $10 off and free shipping for telling them I heard about it on FTL.  I think I ordered on Monday 8/6.

So far so good. Using the wifi antena I was able to pick up WiFi at the jobsite that I was not able to before.

I have only had the radio for 24 hrs at this point.  So far I like it.  Amazed at how good the little speaker sounds.  It hurt me to buy something that I can already do on my laptop, but so far it is so much more convenient for me just to turn on this radio when I go out to work in my work shop than before when I had to start up my computer, navigate to an audio stream, plug the headphone jack into the the stereo, connect the charger when the battery dies, shut it down and wrap up the cords when I was done  etc.

The Show / Michelle Seven
« on: July 22, 2012, 11:53:17 AM »
I discovered FTL on day 12 of the free Ian count up (Oct 2011) since then Michelle has been one of my favorite co hosts.  Around the end of last year it was very entertaining hearing about her right to travel escapades.  I enjoyed hearing her stories about how she interacted with officialdom in a very interesting polite civil disobedient way.  Some things that come to mind is how she let the judge know it was polite to stand when a woman leaves the room, and the judge did it, that is grade A classy, or when she was on her way to the county jail and she called the warden to let him know she was not “interested” in eating their food, giving her name, or being strip searched.

I was sad when she quit being a regular on the show around November of last year, and excited for her recent return.  That excitement was short lived.  I have been very uncomfortable with the way she communicated with the last couple of Obama supporters.   I have heard the blacks voted for Obama because he is black before, at one time I even subscribed to that theory, but really? I mean come on, how many people that voted for Obama, would have voted for McCain, or one of the third party candidates had Obama been classified as white?   There would be a few, but statistically the odds are against the random Obama supporting caller being one of them.

I think that Ian handled the situation well on the air, and I am sure there has been some off the air discussion, but I am not sure Michelle got it, so please Michelle if you read this, take it from a listener, please no more referring to callers as flavors when referring to the color of their skin.  Also keep in mind a well placed sexual innuendo can be funny, but too many too often, just degrade form the conversation.  Friday nights are starting to sound like Steve Carell in The Office saying “that’s what she said” after any random sentence, which is satire of someone who adds too many innuendos too often.

I look forward to hearing more from Michelle, hopefully in “Michelle Classic” form.

In case you are wondering, I am white chocolate, at least that’s what she said!

I thought it was cool when the Edginton posts were tacked on to the end of the podcast.  It was like a little FTL bonus.

I know they are now available independent of the podcast, but I always got a little smile when I would download a podcast and see it was a little longer than typical.

The Show / 11-12-2011 show

I was in a discussion with 2 friends about "what about the roads".

Here is my outgoing e-mail.

Last time I did this it got one of two listening to the ideas of freedom, lets see how it goes this time.

As the old saying goes, and expert is someone from out of town, here are some people from out of town addressing the "Freedom is a bad idea, because what about the roads" argument against liberty.

By the way one of the experts here has a way more pleasant voice than mine to listen to.

Lets talk about three types of people.

Type 1)  Some feel that it is correct for the government to steal money from people to provide healthcare for them and others.  They also feel that it is correct for government to steal money from people to build roads.  These people are consistent.

Type 2)  Some feel that it is incorrect for the government to steal money from people to provide healthcare for them and others.  They also feel that it is correct for government to steal money from people to build roads.  These people are inconsistent.

Type 3)  Some feel that it is incorrect for the government to steal money from people to provide healthcare for them and others.  They also feel that it is incorrect for government to steal money from people to build roads.  These people are consistent.

Who is right?  My guess would be one of the 2 consistent philosophies.

The Show / I liked Saturdays Show 10-22-2011

I thought it covered a wide spectrum topics in a way that those who may be new to the concept of liberty can identify with.  I have asked a couple of friends of mine, that are not very familiar with these points of view to give it a listen.
