Hey everyone, I thought it was time for a new forum dedicated to spreading FTL to as many local talk stations as possible.  If you are willing to call a local station and request Free Talk Live, simply post a new topic in the appropriate subforum of http://local.freetalklive.com with your location as the subject.  (Or, if you've already called a local station, you can post your experience.)  I'll post stations in your area and their contact info.

Consider turning on notification for the thread about your area so you can get alerts to new posts being made.

The idea is to get listeners in each area to coordinate, share, and learn from their station calling efforts.

Your phone call can tip the scale in our favor, and be a big help getting us on the air in your area!!

General calling tips:

The person you want to talk to at the radio station is the Program Director.   Sometimes, the General Manager or Operations Manager will be the Program Director.  There is no need to worry about who is titled what...when the secretary answers the phone just ask who the Program Director is for the call letters you're looking to contact.

Program Directors are most accessible in the morning.

Be honest.  If you don't listen to their station, say so.  But let them know that if they added Free Talk Live that you would listen.

If you do listen to their station, compliment the PD on something you like, then tell him that you really wish you could listen while Free Talk Live is on.

Don't be afraid to leave voicemail.  Calling stations is my full time job, not yours.  If the PD isn't around, don't waste another call on him, just leave a message with what you wanted to say.  Leave your number so the PD can call you back with questions.

Some PDs have voicemail that says they prefer email.  If the PD prefers email, contact him that way.

Remember, the more people calling, the merrier.  Consider getting in touch with your local Libertarian Party, Free State Project group, or anyone else you can think of that would appreciate our brand of talk radio and encouraging them to call!

Don't get discouraged!  There are well over 1,000 talk stations in the US.  Even though calling stations is what I do all day, I have only spoken with some of them.  So if you post your city and I respond that I've never spoken to some of the stations there, call them anyway.  I will make a point of refocusing my calling efforts on any markets that get posted here in this forum.

In case you were wondering what all the numbers were about when I post station info, here's an explanation:

WEIM   1280.0   5,000   1,000   Fitchburg   MA   http://www.weim.com/    978-343-3766

Call Letters / Frequency / Daytime Wattage / Night Wattage (if they cut power) / Location of transmitter / Website / Phone number

Finally, if there is already a station in your area that carries us, post a topic anyway, and I'll post their contact info so you can call the PD and thank him or her.  Plus, in the cases where a station may not carry all 18 hours of the show per week, you can thank them and ask them to carry us full time!   Cool

Slight updates made to the above posts.  I am no longer posting names of Program Directors as they change too often.  Just ask who the Program Director is when you call the station.
