Why I love the English language

OK, I've been known to say things to the contrary, but, heck, I have mixed feelings on just about everything.  So, here we are, an English language appreciation thread.

Reason 1 -- the official language of science, technology, and business, period.

Reason 2 -- some things just don't translate well --
