The Wiki is Gone - Here's The Archive

As per our discussion below, the FTL Wiki has been taken offline, as it had died off.  In case you want to re-launch it with your own MediaWiki on your own server, here is all the data, as it was right before it was taken offline:

It's been pretty much dead for a long while.  There's pretty much one guy tooling around with it in the last ninety days.  Seems no one cares anymore, but also feels wrong to delete all that work.  Of course, I did delete a fuckload of posts here a little while back, so maybe it's not a big deal if no one really cares anymore.

So, what should be done with it?

He is also fat and ugly, resembling a bulbous racoon in many of his pictures. He has dark circles around his eyes and has a wide "moon" face that at once expresses profound stupidity and at the same time evokes strong feelings of sympathy. Apparently, no one has told him this because he posts his face regularly on the BBS, much to the chagrin of its whincing participants. Many have said that he resembles a Manpanda too - behind his back of course. To tell this to Manpanda's face would result in banning from the BBS.
 
John Shaw also has a clear disregard for the honor of his wife. He often posts sexually explicit references to other females who post on the FTL BBS, stating, for example that he would "Tear that ass up," to another female on the BBS, who was not his wife. He also regularly posts pictures of Adult film stars and nude models (none of which are his wife) on the BBS that are, obviously, not his wife. Very Naughty.
 
John Shaw likes to sleep a great deal. Infact he doesn't do much else but eat and sleep and post on FTL. He used to actually be something (an Officer in the Marine Corps) but apparently he gave that up - "It was too much work for him" according to a source this author was able to obtain. While we do not actually have a picture of the ManPanda (John Shaw) sleeping, this author was able to create a reenactment of such a thing with an actor just as capable of being a BBS moderator as Manpanda is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VvwP4QdqsWk.

Deleting stuff that people have worked to put up -- especially show info -- would be an act of extreme bad faith. Why donate any effort to FTL, if Ian is likely to drop your efforts down the memory hole?

I'm not saying I agree or disagree with it. I just work here.

In general I prefer keeping sites live as long as possible for archival purposes even if it's no longer practical to continue maintaining them. But MW is a fast moving target and was becoming a maintenance hassle.

Now for your announcement:

Interested people can download a sanitized archive of the wiki software and database from: http://www.freetalklive.com/files/wiki-archive.zip  (In this context, sanitized means your IPs and encrypted passwords were stripped out. Any nude pictures, if present before, are still present.)

Denis, that's why we've kept all the data - it's there for anyone who wants to go launch the wiki on their own site, but for FTL, it was time to retire it.
