An American friend was deported today.
« on: July 05, 2010, 03:38:40 AM »

One of my mates who has been here for the past 5 years got a visit from the immigration department last week and he was given two choices either go back to the states voluntarily or get sent to a detention camp for illegal immigrants. He recently broke up with is wife and the stupid cow reported him to the authoritaze. It is ridiculous  after this amount of time to be booted out when you have been contributing to the country and have proven you are not a sponge. It never ceases to amaze me how the gestapo immigration department ignores any reccomendations from its own citizens vouching for someones character. Now the taxi company will have to  spend time and resources finding a replacement.Because he left "voluntarily" the queue to get back in should be a bit shorter than in other cases.     -100internets  to the aussie government for xenophobia  :(

He's doing it all wrong. In America, the illegals rape a few women and hack apart a few cops and they are pretty much left alone. Perhaps your friend should have become a drug smuggler?

That is the way of a socialist government.

My friend is married to an Irish man.  After attempting to stay in Northern Ireland for 2 years getting nowhere on her visa and work permit they had to return to the USA.   It took him 1 year to get a a green card here.  I will have to ask now that it has been 3 years in the USA if he has gotten duel citizenship yet.  The process for her to get UK citizenship was much more difficult according to her.

UK immigration had no problem keeping track of me and my work visa status letting me know that I would have to leave the country.  The truth was most of the anti-immigration people in the UK were really mad at the lazy natural citizens who found it easy to survive on the dole and would blame outsiders for taking their jobs.  The reality is even if they managed to kick out every foreigner those lazy natural citizens would still stay on the dole.  There simply was not a lack of jobs when I was in the UK.  I could have filed for my Irish citizenship but declined to do so, something I might come to regret I fear.

I lived and worked in the UK, after 3 years I got my permanent resident status, after 4 years I got my British passport, I'm Canadian. I was able to work "illegally," in the UK for a year, nobody gave a shit. Borders and visas are all bullshit. I never went on the dole in the UK, I always had good work, which is always available so long as people are willing to work hard, lots of lazy white people in the UK, just like there is in Canada, some of those lazy cunts even post messages on this BBS.

There were and are completely different visa rules for Canadians and Australians vs the rules for Americans in the UK.  While I had my temporary work visa / student pass to the UK, I had no problem finding work.  However, once companies were faced with doing the paperwork and expense to keep me on after that visa expired it became a very different story.  Also, I was part of a program that wanted to keep it's charter so they were motivated to keep very close tabs on my location and status.   The best parallel I could give to the difference would be the rules for immigrating from Guam or Puerto Rico to the USA vs immigrating from Mexico or South America to the USA.  You are right generally the British don't give a shit about Canadians or Australians immigrating to the UK.  They are much more resentful of Turks, Indians/Asians and to a slightly lesser degree Americans.

I am not sure if it is easier for British to move to Australia vs an American.  The five circles of immigration hell was written by an Aussie immigrating to the USA.  I suspect it is still easier for Guam residents and Puerto Ricans to get into the USA than Aussies.
