Yes, "the west" (specifically the Catholics and then the English) were on top when humanity achieved escape velocity and discovered modern science and all that, but so what?  The first human being who invented a spear could have been speared to death by someone who copied that idea.  Focus on the future, not the past.  China is very likely to dominate the 21st century, and India the century after that...
