The
Barix Extreamer 100 is a low-budget, semi-pro dedicated internet audio receiving device. However, it's not a wifi device, so how to make it work on a wireless LAN?
If you have a better suggestion, I'd love to hear it. Mine works, but was a pain to figure out:
I use the D-Link DGL-3420 to convert the Barix's network connection to a WiFi connection.
NOTE: Your network settings may vary. This is what worked for me.
It was a big pain of trial and error to get this working. First, I set up the D-Link to access my's wifi network, and then I changed the LAN settings to include my network's gateway (the default is 0.0.0.0).

Here are basic settings for the Barix:

I also set up the Barix to have a static IP. The DNS entries are for
OpenDNS.

My streaming settings. The first URL is the LRN broadband stream, the second is our dialup stream The third entry is "__EXSTR.M3U", the name of the file the Barix auto-generates when you put a flash drive full of MP3s in its USB port. I recommend a flash drive full of introduction-to-liberty MP3s. For recommendations on which MP3s make for good introductions, see the section on internet receiving equipment for medium budgets here on
the LRN.FM broadcast page..

Happy wifi streaming!
